How AI is Being Integrated into Phones.
Artificial intelligence (AI) has transformed the way we use and interact with our phones, bringing innovative features and tools that enhance our user experience. One significant development is the integration of AI in the Samsung Galaxy S24 series and Google Pixel 8 series, showcasing the potential of generative AI in phones. Samsung's Galaxy AI and Google's Magic Editor and Generative Edit are prime examples of how AI can improve the photo editing process by generating content to fill empty spaces and changing elements like the color of the sky in photos. These tools are not just basic editing options but offer a new level of creativity to users.
AI is also making communication more seamless. Samsung introduced Live Translation on the Galaxy S24 series, which, with a tap of a button, can translate conversations in real-time. This feature was later rolled out to other Samsung devices through a software update, underscoring its importance in bridging language barriers.
Another notable use of AI in phones is the introduction of Circle to Search, a feature that allows users to search for information by drawing a circle around an object in a photo. This tool was initially available on the Galaxy S24 and Google Pixel 8 series but later came to the Pixel 7, indicating its popularity among users and developers alike.
Microsoft has also made strides in the AI space with the introduction of the Phi-3 AI model, which can efficiently run on an iPhone. This development is part of Microsoft's broader efforts to advance AI capabilities across different platforms.
For those interested in exploring AI-powered features on their Android devices, the ML Kit Document Scanner library offers an Android-exclusive feature that enhances document scanning capabilities. This tool demonstrates how AI can improve productivity by simplifying tasks like document scanning and editing.
These advancements are just a glimpse into the future of AI in phones, with more innovations expected to emerge in the coming years. As AI becomes more integrated into our devices, we can expect to see a wide range of new features and tools that will continue to redefine the way we use and interact with our phones.
This Week in AI
This week in AI, Elon Musk’s OpenAI rival is reportedly close to raising $6Bn in funding. With Elon splitting ways with Open-AI early on we were unsure what he was going to do but then he bought Twitter and came out with Grok. Many people thought that Open-AI had a monopoly of sorts in the AI Chatbot space but as were seeing now Grok has seen an increase of users and with the Twitter / X database on his side a lot of rich backers also seem to think it is a worthy opponent.
